Thread: Out of physical memory

    Default Out of physical memory

    My son plays World of Warcraft ( online ) his computer is AMD 2800 atholon with 256 ddr ram Agp vidio card and 1 gig of ddr onboard ram 160 gig hard drive and windows xp. The game will crash and and give a message that it is out of physical memory. What can he do to stop this?

    wellcome to TCM nickster.
    first thing to try is to increase the page file so the game has room to store the temps.

    Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, System, Advanced tab, in the Performance section select Settings, Advanced tab, in the "Virtual Memory" section select Change. And change the values to:

    Initial size (MB): 1.5 x the amount of RAM in your system
    Maximum size (MB): 3.0 x the amount of RAM in your system (PF Size Limit = 4095 MB)

    Then select "Set" and "OK" and reboot.

    I set my Initial and Maximum to the same amount (int:1024 max:1024) keeps it from being fragmented.
