Default Spring has sprung in Virginia?

Spring has sprung in Virginia? Not really.

During the Summer I built up some small wall with stones to make a garden out front. I planted a bunch of tiger lillies of which the deer ate most. In September I planted some Narcissus bulps for the Spring. Soon thereafter they started growing and during the last couple of days blooming. Be interesting to see if they come again in the Spring. Anybody know?

Azaleas are still going strong. Bought the Encore brand that blooms several times a year.

Nice to see flowers blooming around this time..but you will not see it in Ontario in November. Sometimes, when it is mild around Feb. March, some bulbs (like Narcissus, tulips and etc.) will start popping out from the ground, and then comes round of icy weather, usually they will die, or will not grow to their fullest, when spring will come.
your coldest temperature in the winter is around -2C (27F), I think they will freeze. As the weather lately is unpredictable, cross your fingers, may be they will be o.k.

-2C, sound better then -22c or more that we are going to get soon. . we are all moving to your back yard.

It at times gets colder than -2C here so they most likely will freeze. Do you think they will come back in Spring since they were blooming in the Fall?

Yeah you can stay in our backyard if you don't mind sharing the space.

Sorry to hear your neighbours are eating your bulbs .. but they are beautiful and seem quite tame to come so close.

I like your neighbors. Let's put it this way: I really don't know if they will come back. Let's see what some other members will say.

Well as much as we don't like them eating our stuff, we are also encouraging them with corn and salt licks. Never noticed in Canada but here in Lowe's and Home Depot the tags in the garden dept. tell whether the plants, bushes and trees are liked by deer on not.

Ended up buying a critter cam to see the action on the "feeding station" around the clock.

We like it very much. Especially the weather is much nicer / warmer, one the reasons why we moved South. At the same time we miss some of our favorite food brands we cannot get down here. My better half misses Tim Horton's and of course our daughter and grand son are still up North.

With my new job I'm home a lot more and I get to drive my Trans Am pretty much year round. Before I used to garage it late Sept. and not get it back on the road until May the following year.

We also enjoy our move from suburbia to a 1 acre property with lots of woods around with plenty of privacy and friendly visitors.
