I had trouble a while back with getting the ID for my Netgear ReadyNAS device. Recently it showed the message "kernel panic" which does not sound good. I looked it up and either a drive is bad or the software is bad. I powered down (unplugged) and restarted and it has been booting for 24 hours (edit - 50 hours now) which seems excessive, I was expecting about 6 hours. It has 3 by 2TB drives and all three drives show a steady green light which is good. Is the next step a reset using a paper clip as directed below? I don't mind losing the current backups. Thanks

The Netgear ReadyNAS is a networked mass storage device with the capability to hold several internal hard drives. Using a system called RAID, the ReadyNAS protects the data stored on its hard drives with data redundancy so that the loss of any individual hard drive in the device does not result in data loss. The ReadyNAS has a recessed reset button on the back that you can use to reinstall the device's firmware or return it to its original factory settings. If you experience a problem with your ReadyNAS, use the reset button as a troubleshooting tool.
